Miami has one of the most active diamond resale markets in the US, driven by international trade, Latin American buyers, and a strong luxury goods culture. The Miami Jewelry District along NE 1st Avenue in the Design District is the main hub. Buyers here pay 25-45% of retail, with higher offers for certified, high-color stones. Miami also has a robust online buyer market.
Before you sell: 5 rules
- Get an estimate first. Use our calculator to know the floor and ceiling before any conversation.
- Bring your GIA / IGI report. No certificate? Buyers will discount 10-25% because they can't verify the stone.
- Get at least 3 written offers. Miami dealers know each other and will price-match the best honest offer.
- Decline trade-credit offers. Cash only. Trade-credit is worth ~50¢ on the dollar to you.
- Check licensing. Most states require secondhand diamond dealers to be licensed. Ask to see their license.
